Are You Frustrated, Trying to Access Messenger on Facebook Pages?
Getting an alert from Facebook Pages messenger on a mobile phone is frustrating. It’s no secret that many of us work on mobile devices and a “smart” phone ranks very highly in the mobile world.
When you are in business, whether in the office or on the move, your phone is always going to be close by. Probably set for alerts for messages, even if you have set up an auto-response reply. For the sake of courtesy, alone.
So, the alert goes off.
You jump on to your own page, to read the message.
Click: Activity.
Select: Messages
Check: the little Message box at the bottom right hand side of the page. It should be blue.
Ha!! Crickets. No, not even crickets. Nothing is chirping at you. Because at this point, Facebook Messenger is not activated for pages in your Facebook APP.
The solution is simple, and it’s a two-step fix.
Do this search:
http://facebook.com – which will display as https://m.facebook.com/ on your phone. (this link is not activated)
Add your page title: For me it’s https://m.facebook.com/storiesmynanatells/ (this link is not activated)
Now, you are on the Facebook mobile page. It does almost everything the full site does, but it’s a pain on the phone, if you like working on a big screen.
At the TOP RIGHT HAND SIDE, find the three little dots
Click them.
Scroll down the menu and choose ADD TO HOME SCREEN (of your phone) .
Give it a name that’s right for you.
It will appear on the home page with the Facebook Logo and a field into which you enter your own name.
Give it whatever name YOU want, to make sure you can quickly identify it. For me, it’s “Check Message for SMNT”
You might want to have more than one link, for multiple pages.
Click and access your Page and your messages
Click: Activities.
Select: Messages. And you are ready to go!!
Once you are there, you can click on any individual message and see the history of conversations with that person, as well.
What happens the next time you log on to Facebook, using your APP.
While you have the short link on your home screen, it should remain idle, but active. If you get a notification from Facebook Messenger for a page, go to the page, and click on ACTIVITIES.
This will bring up the option to view Messages and to respond. If it fails, simply use the short link you have on your home screen, as a fallback.
However, once you have the short link on your home page as a direct access to Facebook mobile, your Facebook Mobile App will open those page messages.
A bit long winded? Well, maybe not. Not everyone is quick to follow a few short snappy instructions and the images always help.
All my testing was done on a Samsung J Pro. I hope it works for you, too.
