Is Your Facebook Business Page Missing Out On Likes And Shares?
Are you missing out on getting your business page “Liked” and “Shared” on Facebook? It might be because you are so proud of being “self-employed”, you are getting lost in the crowd.
Writing the description of your own occupation on your Facebook profile needs care. Otherwise, you will lose the opportunity to have friends and potential customers find your business page easily, and share it. If anyone gives it a friendly like or leaves a comment, it can create a ripple on the huge pond which is Facebook.
Setting up your occupation on your personal profile should never be “self employed”
Don’t set up your current “occupation” on your personal profile to say “self employed” Â Rather, include your Facebook Business page name in the Intro displayed on your timeline.
Then, if you want your business page to be easily found on Facebook by anyone, the NAME of your Facebook business page is displayed as your current employer. As soon as anyone hovers over the link, your Facebook Business page is displayed as a thumbnail.
Second to that, create all the links you want for business in the ABOUT section on your personal profile. Set the security levels for each category, so the public only sees what you want to share. Â Friends can see more, of course, and lock down your Facebook email address to be visible to you only.
Take the time to explore the security settings on your personal profile, to maximise the value of having your Facebook Business page showing up there.
Your actual website link will be clearly displayed on your Facebook Business page, as well, so fans can easily click through to your site from there.
What is your role in your business?
Specifying your role in your business is NOT about what you do, or who owns the business.
Rather than write yourself up as the Owner, or Self-Employed (like a couple of million other people on Facebook) use your Facebook Business page to write up what it is you want people to understand about your business.
- What it does.
- What you DO.
- Identify the business services and skills.
Of course, we know that as a small business owner, you have 100 and one different tasks and roles in your business. But the key information to be shared is what potential customers will see on your Facebook business page.
Security needs to be set at the correct level.
Make sure your personal security is set at the correct level. If you are using Facebook for business, you want your employment status (i.e. your Facebook Business page) to be seen.
Don’t have that locked down so tight no one can it. Not if you want Facebook to help you build your business by being easily found in a search, or by clicking on a link.
Your employment will have to be VISIBLE to everyone who looks at your profile on Facebook, unless you want to restrict having your business page shown only to your friends.
This is why creating your personal profile and selecting your security settings is important.
If you have a personal account AND a Facebook business page, making your employment publicly visible is what will let your Facebook business page shine.
