Description
Watching the seasons come and go is always fun, although as you get older the year does seem to go faster.  When you are young, Christmas seems to take forever to come and the school holidays last for ages and ages.
It’s seeing things happen every year that helps to give a sense of time passing by and to feel the world is really “spinning around.”  In the hills of Perth, a sure sign winter was nearly over was the arrival of our lovely robin redbreasts.
Scarlet Robin
Scarlet Robin is a surprising tale of solving one of the mysteries of bird migration in the Perth Hills. It’s also an eye-opening saga of how a multi-generational family of Scarlet Robins came to live with us.
And why we had to send them away. In the South West, we found the local residents were as mystified as those in the Perth Hills about the life cycle of our familiar Scarlet Robins.
Ten years in the making, this is a story about interaction with native wildlife. Sometimes, we unwittingly make changes to their environment and interfere with their lives.
With questions at the end, and links to appropriate websites, Scarlet Robin is ideal for anyone with a reading age of 10 and over. Without being too confronting, it’s also a great way to introduce younger children to environmental issues.
It has a happy ending!
