Description
During the 2016 Cocky Count, in April, a flock of almost 5,000 birds was found concentrated amongst the Pinjar pines, where previously the count had been less than 2,000.
It was NOT a good sign to find 46% of the population in one roost area in the pine plantation. Instead, it confirmed the importance of the Gnangara Pine Plantations as a food source for a greater number birds, as their alternative resources diminish. Yet, these food sources are scheduled to be cleared by 2030.
