How A FIFO Mum or Dad Can Read Their Kids A Bedtime Story
A new Australian-first website for families with kids has been launched to help parents and children share stories through Social Media – Stories My Nana TellsÂ
The site is the ultimate resource for parents who want to share unique and engaging stories with their children, encourage them to read and help overcome the anxiety of separation.
Children’s author and creator of the website, Lesley Dewar, said while the opportunity to be employed in the mining boom is financially compelling, the Fly In, Fly Out (FIFO) lifestyle has disrupted many family lives. With a new boom predicted to start in the North West of WA, the number of families affected will continue to increase.
“Stories My Nana Tells provides a regular and unique connection between adults (parents and grandparents) and children in a fun and entertaining way, anytime they want to log onto the internet,” Lesley Dewar said.
“The site helps overcome separation anxiety for children, because families can have multiple logins of the same membership, at the same time, and chat over Skype about the stories,” she said. [Read more…] about Press Release – for FIFO Parents (issued Feb 28, 2011)
